25th of March, Regular Session 1: Aging Society & BREXIT

On March 25th, we had our first session of Spring Semester 2017 at East Asia Foundation. During the session, there were two interesting presentations followed by a discussion related to the topics. The first presentation was about Asia’s demographic transition characterized by low fertility and aging population. Two members of GALF talked about how the demographic transition is taking place in most of the Northeast Asian countries and what is expected for the future. The topic of the second group was about Brexit and its impact on ASEAN. Their presentation and discussion part mainly focused on how the UK’s recent decisions and policies to leave the European Union could affect ASEAN integration and future trade relations between ASEAN members and the UK.
